Very often we get told all the things we should be doing… how we should be feeling, what other people think our life should look like.
Ummmm, no thanks.
Trying to set a financial goal is hard enough without trying to live up to someone else’s idealistic views and expectations. We are all facing different challenges, we all have very different circumstances and we are all at different stages of our financial freedom.
The best part about your financial goal is that it is YOUR goal. You can set your mind to whatever you want to do. Imagine we live in a world where there are no expectations or standards – what would your goal be then?
What I would love to see is for you to write down the goal that you want to aim for, whatever it might be. No goal is too big or too small – even “surviving” is a financial goal!
On December 11 2016 I wrote down the craziest goal imaginable: debt freedom. I didn’t know how I was going to do it. I just knew that’s what I wanted to do. I still have the book that I wrote it in!
I wrote down a clear, concise goal of being debt free in 10 years. I was excited and refreshed. I knew that it was going to have some challenges and it wasn’t by any means going to be easy.
Fast forward 3 years and I have achieved a goal that no one thought I would. There is nothing stopping you from doing the same.
I want you to take a moment to just block out the “should” noise for a minute and write the goal that’s in your heart – whatever that might be.
There will be people that tell you the goal you have is unachievable, or crazy or some other negative comment. That’s their opinion. But these are YOUR finances and YOUR goals and I can’t wait to see you achieve them.
